In the latest episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, Meghan Markle offered a rare and heartfelt look back at her time in the U.K. as a working royal. Speaking just ahead of Prince Archie’s sixth birthday, the Duchess of Sussex revisited the emotional memory of introducing her newborn son to the world.

“Archie turns six tomorrow. He’s going to be six!” Meghan, 43, shared with guest Tina Knowles on the June 3 bonus episode. “Where did the time go? I remember carrying him out there… he is now six years old.”

A Royal Debut at Windsor Castle

Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019, at 5:26 a.m. Just two days later, Meghan and Prince Harry introduced their son to the world in an intimate photo call at St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle — the same location where the couple celebrated their wedding luncheon a year earlier.

Meghan recalled, “We had his birthday party yesterday… But you look up, and really, I think everything is in constant fluid motion.”

Meghan and Harry Broke Royal Tradition

Unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton, who introduced their children to the press outside the hospital shortly after birth, Meghan and Harry took a more private route. Their decision to wait two days and host a photo call in Windsor Castle was a significant break from royal tradition — a move that reflected their desire for a more personal approach to parenthood.

Life After the Royal Exit: Archie and Lilibet in California

In January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their decision to step back from royal duties and relocate to California. Since then, the couple have built a quieter life in Montecito, where they raise Archie and his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, who turns four this week.

Both Archie and Lilibet have inherited their father’s iconic red hair — something confirmed when the couple released their 2021 holiday card photo.

Meghan’s Postpartum Moment Resurfaces

Meghan’s recollection of Archie’s birth isn’t the first time the topic has come up on her podcast. In an earlier episode featuring Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd, Meghan was praised for her strength during that very public moment.

“I’ll never forget the image of you after you delivered Archie,” Wolfe Herd said. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, how is this woman putting on heels and debuting a child in front of the entire world?'”

A Quiet Celebration for a Growing Boy

As Archie celebrates his sixth birthday, Meghan and Harry continue to keep most details of their children’s lives private. But with each rare mention — whether through Meghan’s podcast or family photos — fans get a small, touching glimpse into the life the Sussexes are building far from palace walls.
